Maternal and Child Health:

Contributes to understanding and prevention of major maternal and child health problems, including pregnancy outcome, infant and child morbidity and mortality, maternal morbidity and mortality, abnormal child growth and development, and early-life factors in adult health problems.

Nutritional Sciences:

Nutritional Sciences prepares graduates to work in policy analysis and program development at local, state, or federal levels. The program also focuses on the design and implementation of community-based dietary interventions for health promotion.

Pathobiology

Pathobiology is the study of pathogenic biological agents and their interaction with their hosts, primarily humans. As a discipline, pathobiology combines the fundamental concepts of biology and clinical medicine. The Department offers MS and PhD degrees and promotes public health by research, training, and service in infectious and non-infectious diseases of importance to human populations.

Public Health Genetics:

The Institute for Public Health Genetics provides broad, multidisciplinary training in the emerging field of public health genetics. Building on the fundamental areas of study in program (human genetics, genomics, and public health), training including the two core knowledge areas of Genomics and Public Health (genetic and molecular epidemiology, ecogenetics and pharmacogenetics) and Implications of Genomics for Society (ethics and social science; law and policy; health economics and outcomes research).
