The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), is seeking a Social Science Policy Analyst. The primary responsibilities of the position are to evaluate policy impacts, assess program costs, as well as analyze operational and participation trends related to the Agency's 15 nutrition assistance programs, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly the Food Stamp Program), National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs, and Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).

The position is located in the Office of Research and Analysis, and the major duties are:

Developing analytical support for annual budget proposals to Congress and Agency policy, programmatic, and legislative initiatives.

Assessing impact of legislative or budgetary initiatives on beneficiaries, program costs, and administrative feasibility.

Preparing formal economic impact analyses.

Conducting nutrition program research by formulating, planning, and implementing analytic studies of FNS programs including demonstration projects and other contracted research funded by FNS.

The position is located in Alexandria, VA, and the salary range is $73,100 to $113,007. Applicants must meet the specialized experience listed in the "qualifications" section of the vacancy announcement.
