As part of the San Francisco Advanced Practice Center (APC) project in public health preparedness the Project Associate will provide technical assistance and support in the development and dissemination of an Infectious Disease Emergency Response (IDER) Toolkit. He/she will be assigned to work with the San Francisco Department of Public Health's (SFDPH) Bioterrorism and Infectious Disease Emergency Unit. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Research emergency preparedness and response tools, best practices, APC products, and training materials.
- Assist the Project Coordinator in modifying San Francisco's Infectious Disease Emergency Response (IDER) Plan (www.sfcdcp.com/iderplan.html) to develop materials that can be easily adapted and used by other health departments. Key components of the toolkit will include: 1) template IDER Plan, 2) situation specific annexes; 3) key appendix items; and, 4) staff training materials.
- Collect and organize feedback from the project Steering Committee and others (local health departments, Association of Bay Area Health Officials, etc.) on draft materials and incorporate into final materials.
- Identify and incorporate or reference other APC tools in the IDER toolkit. •Identify and work with a sub-contractor to produce final packaging for toolkits.
- As needed, support sub-contractor with evaluation of project products against target goals.
- Support marketing and outreach specialist to promote the toolkits.
- Assist training specialist to develop and conduct trainings on how to use the toolkits.
- As needed, assist the Project Coordinator with work plan development, meeting coordination, subcontractor communication, and/or quarterly reporting on program progress.
- Foster collaboration and coordinate activities and products with other APCs, local health departments, agencies, and/or organizations.
- Represent the APC project and SFDPH as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills: The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Public health knowledge and experience (e.g., infectious diseases, disease control).
- Emergency preparedness/response experience.
- Strong writing, editing and research skills.
- Project management experience.
- Experience developing outreach materials.
- Organization skills and ability to manage multiple activities.
- Familiarity with popular Microsoft Office applications.
Education and/or Experience: Two years work experience in public health, emergency preparedness, and/or project management and a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public health or a related field (master's degree preferred).
Work Environment: This individual will be assigned to work at the SFDPH located at 101 Grove St. in San Francisco. This position will be employed by PHFE and be supervised by PHFE and SFDPH staff.
