Overview of position:
Community Health Partnership: Oregon's Public Health Institute is seeking a full-time Health Impact Assessment (HIA) Project Coordinator to lead multiple HIA projects on transportation and land use policies and projects. The position will require a strong understanding of the relationship between health outcomes and transportation, land use, and urban planning systems; and the role that social, economic and environmental conditions play in impacting health. The HIAs conducted will focus on how projects and policies impact climate change, active transportation options, air quality, food systems, and physical safety. This position is funded for 12 months, with opportunities to extend the position if additional resources are generated.
Duties:
Coordinate multiple partners to conduct a series of health impact assessments on regional and local transportation, land use, and urban planning policies and projects.
Extensive data collection and analysis for HIA screening, scoping, assessment, reporting, and evaluation phases.
Work with technical partners to select and apply appropriate research, epidemiological, and statistical modeling methods to achieve HIA objectives.
Coordinate community-based data collection activities such as neighborhood environmental audits and land use surveys, administering community surveys, and interviews with key stakeholders.
Develop and disseminate HIA case studies and lessons learned to regional and national audiences.
Communicate to stakeholders and decision-makers about the importance of considering health in transportation/land use planning and policy-making.
Assist the Director as appropriate with regional healthy community planning and policy activities.
Qualifications:
Strong quantitative and qualitative research and analysis skills.
Basic understanding of existing transportation and land use policies and procedures in Portland Metro region.
Experience working with multiple stakeholders, including public agencies, community organizations, community residents, elected officials, and media.
Communication and dissemination skills including ability to make oral presentations and writing case studies and best practices. Ability to travel to national conferences.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; strong computer skills in database management and Web 3.0.
Completion of a master's degree with a concentration in transportation or land use planning, public health, public policy, or other field with strong analytical methods. At least two years relevant work experience.
Salary range: $40,000-$50,000 based on experience
