The Professional Practicum Coordinator is expected to proactively develop and maintain relationships with community partners and serve as the primary point of contact for practicum sites. She/he will oversee the placement of Public Health and CJLS practicum students, monitor their work and successful progress toward individualized learning objectives in the field, and intervene when problems arise. The Coordinator will be responsible for providing training and support to the practicum sites that are hosting students. She/he will also teach relevant seminar courses for practicum students. The Coordinator will work in partnership with faculty to oversee and update the policies and procedures for the practicum programs in Public Health and CJLS. She/he will coordinate and maintain appropriate risk-management procedures for practicum students (e.g., coordinating criminal background checks, FERPA training, HIPAA protocols, etc.). Finally, the Practicum Coordinator will work with campus partners, such as the Center for Civic Engagement, to create synergies and learning opportunities for students in the community.



  • Must have the proven ability to build and sustain relationships with faculty and staff at Pacific as well as relationships with outside organizations; ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and community partners
  • Superior program development and implementation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in an undergraduate, liberal arts and sciences educational setting is preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred; MPH or MSW strongly preferred
  • Must work well independently and as part of a larger academic team
  • Must be comfortable working with diverse students and communities
  • Knowledge of Forest Grove, Washington County, and the greater Portland Metropolitan area preferred
