Public Health – Seattle & King County is seeking an Epidemiologist I to:

  • Design and deliver data literacy trainings and provide technical assistance to the staff of community-based organizations, government health and human services departments, and other audiences in King County.
  • Conduct analyses, identify key findings from these data analyses, and highlight those findings in data visualizations and interpretive narrative.
 Examples of Duties:
  • Design and deliver trainings to community-based organizations, governmental agencies, the public, and other non-technical audiences as requested.
  • Identify key findings from analysis and interpret results.
  • Provide training/technical assistance to non-technical audiences on:
    • Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data
    • Using data for grant-writing, planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting activities
  • Conduct analysis of public health data.
  • Develop data visualizations and interpretive narrative suitable for non-technical audiences.
  • Prepare information for reports and website.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to conduct trainings, including translating and presenting data and evaluation findings into clear information for non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to understand the limitations of data and interpret findings appropriately.
  • Knowledge of public health-related field with course work emphasizing epidemiology and evaluation that is equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in public health or closely related field.
  • Analytical skills and experience interpreting quantitative and qualitative data using datasets, spreadsheets, charts, maps, visualizations, and narrative.
  • Knowledge and commitment to equity and social justice principles and practices, including knowledge about the characteristics of populations that impact health and well-being.
  • Familiarity with spreadsheets, statistical software (example: Stata), and data visualization tools.
  • Presentation skills, including ability to think on one’s feet and tailor presentations to the needs and skills of different audiences.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Skill in managing multiple projects, working as part of a team, and working with non-technical audiences

Desired Qualifications:
The most competitive applicants will possess:

  •  2+ years of experience in conducting trainings and/or teaching experience
  • 2+ years of experience with analysis, spreadsheets, databases, and/or Tableau software
  • Familiarity with the King County area (geography, communities, etc.)
  • Bilingual written and oral skills
  • Valid WA state driver’s license
