Project Manager for INVESTD-R
Integrated Veteran Epidemiologic Study Data Resource
The Seattle Epidemiologic Research and Information Center (ERIC), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), is accepting applications for a full-time Project Manager. The Seattle ERIC is based at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, and is an epidemiologic research center in the national VA Cooperative Studies Program (CSP). Responsibilities for the Project Manager position include taking a lead role in developing and managing a large-scale, epidemiologic data access project, the Integrated Veteran Epidemiologic Study Data Resource (INVESTD-R). Its goal is to increase research access to the vast amounts of study data and biospecimens that have been collected by studies within CSP.
Key duties for the position include the following:
- Work with the Center leadership to develop the project design, including data access protocols and documentation
- Liaise with clinician and epidemiologist investigators and serve as the primary scientific point of contact;
- Create and oversee a CSP national planning committee for INVESTD-R;
- Manage the ongoing activities the Resource and track user experience;
- Create and maintain user-friendly forms, surveys, and the Resource website for application of data/biospecimen access;
- Ensure study documentation is created and maintained per VA, CSP, and federal regulations; and
- Travel to national meetings as required.
Ideal candidates will have the following attributes:
- Extensive knowledge of epidemiologic research methods and designs including, but not limited to, 3 years or more of conducting epidemiologic research studies including experience with instrumentation, data collection, data management, and analyses;
- Minimum of masters-level degree in a scientific field such as epidemiology or biostatistics;
- Demonstration of strong public relations and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of VA and university researchers, and ORD, local R&D, and CSP Central Office staff;
- Experience with staff supervision and training; and
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel) required; experience with Access, REDCap, and SharePoint programs preferred.
Candidates must be US citizens. Education and experience will be evaluated by Human Resources to determine if the top candidate meets the criteria for GS-11, per the Office of Personnel Management General Schedule table at opm.gov.
