The Environmental Health & Safety unit of the Division of Facilities and Services at West Virginia University is seeking applications for an EHS & Biosafety Specialist. Supporting West Virginia University’s Health Sciences Center, this position plans, develops, manages, and implements occupational safety and health programs related to fire and life safety, laboratory safety, chemical hygiene, industrial hygiene, and hazardous materials. Additionally, this position will assist the Biosafety Officer with biological safety programs, including management of the BSL3 facility.Skills/Eligibility:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, Environmental Health and Safety, Microbiology/Infectious Diseases or related field or equivalent experience is required.
- Master’s degree in one of the above areas is preferred.
- At least four (4) years of directly related professional experience in environmental health and safety programs including fire and life safety, laboratory safety, chemical hygiene, hazardous materials, biological safety, BSL3 experience and/or occupational safety.
