Faculty Openings in Department of Population Health in the new UTRGV School of Medicine
The newly established UTRGV School of Medicine is seeking faculty members for multiple openings to join UTRGV SOM and significantly contribute to teaching, research and service. Faculty in the Department of Population Health and Behavioral Sciences will teach and conduct research on determinants and outcomes of population health, promotion of disease prevention and translation of health-related innovations into practice. The UTRGV SOM provides unique access to clinical and community-based, translational research programs along the U.S./Mexico border. Substantial population health programs with sister UT institutions allow for collaborative research on chronic and infectious diseases.
The Department of Population Health and Behavioral Sciences is building an interdisciplinary faculty with substantial backgrounds in epidemiology, statistics and modelling, public health, health policy, health management, translational science, sociology, social policy, psychology, economics, behavioral science, geography, health promotion, medical informatics or similar disciplines will be considered. Experience in an LCME accredited medical school is preferred. The chosen individuals will assist in implementing a vertically and horizontally integrated curriculum utilizing active learning, team based learning, problem based learning, flipped classroom and similar educational techniques. Applicants with research and teaching experience in the areas of chronic disease, maternal child health, health disparities and health informatics are particularly encouraged to apply.
Successful candidates should demonstrate scholarship through strong publication records in refereed journals and awards of external funding for scientific studies, commensurate with rank.
Ph.D or similar terminal degree. One (1) year of recent medical education experience at an LCME accredited medical school strongly preferred or one (1) year of recent research and teaching experience. Academic rank will be awarded commensurate with experience and academic credentials.
