Our Campus Safety Department, has an outstanding opportunity for an Environmental Health & Safety / Emergency Specialist
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, BIOLOGY, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Engineering, Industrial Safety Science, Health Physics, Emergency Management or closely related field.
-At least three years of increasingly responsible experience in one or more areas of Environmental Health & Safety or Emergency Management.
-Must currently hold at least one of the following credentials: Chemical Hygiene Officer (CHO), Registered Sanitarian (RS), Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
-Experience working with regulatory agencies in multiple jurisdictions, knowledge of environmental remediation protocols and techniques thorough knowledge of federal and state environmental health and safety laws (OSHA, EPA, SEPA, and WISHA) working knowledge of DOT regulations.
-Knowledge and an understanding of the current issues and trends in the EH&S and Emergency Management field.
-Must be able to work accurately and efficiently in a work environment that has potential to change frequently due to change in government regulations or business needs.
-Ability to develop collaboration among diverse groups; ability to think outside the box and to lead and manage change.
-Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills
-Ability to work effectively with ethnic, cultural, and socially diverse populations.
-Demonstrated presentation skills and training delivery skills in one of the following areas: HAZCOM, Laboratory Safety, Fire Safety, Chemical Safety Emergency Management, Blood Borne Pathogens, etc.
-Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft software and tools.
-Haz-Mat first responder and assume role of incident commander as needed.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
