The Department of Public Health at California State University, Fresno is accepting applications for a tenure track position in Environmental Health and
Safety at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank with a fall 2018 start date. The successful candidates will teach undergraduate courses in Public Health
and possibly some graduate courses in the Masters of Public Health (MPH) program. Teaching responsibilities will focus on the
Environmental/Occupational Health and Safety option with emphasis in 1) Environmental Health -Water Safety, 2) Vector Control, Food Protection,
Solid/Liquid Waste Management, Housing and Institutions, and Hazardous Materials Management and Under Ground Tanks. Specific assignments will
depend on departmental needs. Other duties will include, but not be limited to: advising undergraduate students, graduate project and thesis advisement,
participating in program development, and actively engaging in research and committee service at all levels of university governance. Outcomes
assessment and service learning are important components of the university curriculum. The successful candidate may be called upon to teach in an online
learning environment and encouraged to develop web-enhanced and/or web-based instruction.
An earned doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D. or DrPH) in Environmental/Occupational Health or related field is required for appointment to a tenure track position.
Candidates with doctorates in a related field are required to have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental/Occupational Health and a strong
science background. Candidates nearing completion of a doctorate program (ABD) may be considered; however, for continued employment in a
tenure-track position the doctorate must be completed by 8/16/2018. Qualifying degrees must be from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent.
Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor requires a substantially higher level of experience and accomplishment in teaching and scholarly
productivity than that required for appointment at the Assistant Professor level.
The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years public health experience. Professional certification as a Registered Environmental Health
Specialist (REHS) in California is required within 2 years of appointment to a tenure track position. To determine your eligibility or to see what the
