The Environmental Health Specialist (EHS) is a professional-level position responsible for conducting a wide variety of activities.  This position will perform environmental health and water quality activities within the county.  The EHS will conduct sanitation inspections and evaluations as well as code enforcement and technical review.  Day to day activities may involve: program specific regulation enforcement, environmental sampling, data analysis, knowledge dissemination and report composition as well as conducting environmental assessment and monitoring programs. Additional duties may involve policy and procedure development, support technical assistance to varied interests in regulation development or implementation.  The EHS may also identify site-specific corrective actions where needed in addition to permit management activities for facilities.


Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) from four-year college or university in public health, sanitary science, bacteriology, dairy science, veterinary medicine, engineering, or a basic natural or physical science OR related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
