Providence is calling an Associate Research Scientist to join the Center for Outcomes Research and Education (CORE) team in Portland. This position will focus on health services research (including social determinants of health, health systems, health policy, and population health) with primary responsibilities including scientific design and oversight of research and evaluation projects.

CORE is a non-profit research organization committed to improving community health. We use surveys, interviews, and health care data to find opportunities to improve the health of the population and do healthcare better. At CORE, we believe that health care policy founded on the latest and best research can improve the prognosis for our entire community.

In this position, you will:

  • Design research projects, develop partnerships, and act in the role of co-investigator on health services research projects.

  • Provide leadership for small grant and contract-based studies.

  • Collaborate with other scientists and managers from a variety of disciplines, both within and external to Providence Health & Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Master’s degree in sociology, public health, health services, psychology, epidemiology, or related field

  • Work experience (may NOT be concurrent with degree) must include:

  • 5 years of experience in health services research or related industry

  • 5 years of experience developing, managing, and leading research projects

-OR-

  • PhD in sociology, public health, health services, psychology, epidemiology, or related field

  • Work experience may be concurrent, but must include:

  • 1 year of experience in health services research or related industry

  • 1 year of experience developing, managing, and leading research projects

-AND-

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Experience writing and publishing research articles in peer review journals
