Snoqualmie Valley Farmers Cooperative - Carnation, WA

Job Summary

SVFC is seeking a vibrant, organized, and highly motivated and independent individual who is passionate about local agriculture to serve as our General Manager. This person manages the Snoqualmie Valley Farmers Cooperative, a nonprofit 501(C)5 organization comprised of nearly two dozen SnoValley farmers and is responsible for all aspects of farmers co-op business operations including the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, finances (e.g., Quickbooks online and accounts receivable/payable) and managing organizational goals. In addition, they are responsible for hiring and supervision of support staff.

The GM works in collaboration with the board to create strategies that ensure steady growth of the organization. As a relatively new venture, the co-op needs a dynamic individual capable of independent hands-on management, creative thinking, and out of the cube problem-solving

The ideal candidate will have experience as manager or similar position of responsibility within the food and agricultural industry. Candidates should thrive in an independent work environment and have a solid understanding of business accounting principles, organizational budgeting and business planning, achieving CSA sales goals, marketing, and excellent customer service skills.

It is imperative that the GM value the SnoValleyCoop principles and demonstrate a strong ability to connect with both our farm-members as well as our CSA subscribers. The GM reports to board president and board of directors.

This salaried position entails up to 25 hours per week January thru June, expanding up to 40 hours per week July thru December.

Responsibilities and Duties

Snoqualmie Valley Farmers Cooperative General Manager

Administrative and Financial

  • Manage the day-to-day business operations of the SnoValleyCoop
  • Manage the finances of the organization: A/R, A/P, Banking, Budget, Bill Payment
  • All communications/customer service with co-op members and board
  • Responsible for Grant administration, including tracking and monthly reporting
  • Work with accountant to accurately record co-op transactions in a timely manner


  • Create and implement a strategic sales and marketing plan
  • Actively promote the co-op’s products through multiple marketing channels
  • Manage and keep current the co-op brand via website and social media
  • Customer relations including weekly CSA e-newsletter and all customer communications
  • Be public face and main point of contact for the co-op to partners and community members
  • Work with sister organization SnoValley Tilth to plan farm tours/events to promote the co-op

CSA Sales and Management

  • Manage the CSA program including member recruitment, drop site selection and coordination, sales, and member communication
  • Meet sales goals as set by Annual Budget Plan
  • Sell 100 regular-season CSA shares in 2018
  • 200 winter-season CSA shares for winter 2018-2019


  • Responsible for the daily operation of the CSA (and co-op) including, but not limited to: coordinating with member farms for weekly purchases of vegetables, eggs and fruit, purchasing goods from member farms, coordination of drop site locations (e.g., individuals, businesses and King County), delivery route planning, and the successful organization and weekly delivery of CSA veggie boxes to drop locations .
  • Hiring and supervising co-op staff
  • Facilitate crop planning and CSA box contents
  • Create a great CSA box and experience for customers
How to Apply:

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum two years strong sales experience
  • Knowledge about local food system
  • Experience working with fresh fruits and vegetables post-harvest
  • Demonstrated competency developing food distribution logistics
  • Proven ability to market and promote via social media and other channels
  • Experience creating/maintaining websites; using Google Drive, and QuickBooks
  • Thorough understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and spreadsheet development
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Effective communication style
  • Able to lift 40lbs, enjoy physical labor
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and an excellent driving record
  • Positive and outgoing attitude

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: $28,000.00 to $32,000.00 /year
