Description:

The Hope for Youth Programs Assistant provides administrative and coordination assistance to the Hope for Youth Programs Coordinator with the Hope for Youth, College Readiness and Roberto Maestas Leadership Institute youth programs. Provides occasional assistance in the classrooms as needed.

______________________________________________________________________________ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Assists with the coordination of the Hope for Youth civil rights history and poetry classes, Roberto Maestas Leadership Institute and College Readiness Program including assisting with research for curriculum, and compiling presentation materials. Daily work is completed at El Centro de la Raza.
  • Assists the coordinator with program enrollment at the beginning of the school semester including cross-enrolling Hope for Youth participants in the College Readiness program and Roberto Maestas Leadership Institute.
  • Assists the coordinator with collecting and organizing documentation; including engaging and enrolling students into the College Readiness program, assist developing one-on-one individualized post-secondary plans, assist with college applications, financial aid paperwork, and scholarship research and applications.
  • Assists the coordinator in maintaining participant files for all enrollees, and collecting and maintaining all appropriate documentation to meet program and contract requirements including school records to document academic achievement and participation of enrollees in community activities.
  • Assists in the coordination of field trips and provides transportation for youth to program events and activities.
  • Assists in the planning, coordinating, and transportation for all Seattle Public Schools Proyecto Saber, Federal Way Open Doors and other youth program students to attend El Centro de la Raza’s Annual Youth Graduation event.
  • Assists the coordinator with recruitment of guest speakers.
  • Assists with monthly billing ‘back up,’ program narrative reports, monthly program reports, monthly board reports and participates/prepares for site visits, including approved program-related meetings and trainings.
  • Assists with entering participant enrollment information and volunteer hours in Salesforce, assists with CSBG and United Way mid and end of year reporting.
  • Attends charlas, youth team and department meetings.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS  

Essential minimum skills, education, and experience:

 

  • A. degree in a related field preferred.
  • 5 years of work experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Latino and diverse community issues and/or involvement and knowledge of social justice issues or community organizing experience a plus.
  • Must have excellent oral, written and organizational communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid Washington driver’s license and show evidence of insurability.
