Description:

The Occupational & Environmental Health Specialist will contribute scientific and technical expertise to Worksafe’s policy advocacy and trainings. The successful candidate will also spearhead our efforts to protect workers from chemical hazards and toxic substances.

Skills/Eligibility:
  • Masters degree in Environmental Health Sciences or a related field (or equivalent experience);
  • Background in a discipline directly related to occupational health and safety preferred;
  • Knowledge of occupational and environmental workplace chemical hazards required;
  • Policy experience and knowledge of Cal/OSHA rulemaking process preferred;
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex scientific and technical topics for diverse audiences;
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently with energy and enthusiasm;
  • Experience with labor or community organizing a plus;
  • Bilingual in a language of one or more California immigrant worker populations a plus;
  • Passion for protecting the health and safety of workers, families, and communities required.
