The successful candidate will provide epidemiology support to the Office of Injury Prevention in the New Mexico Department of Health, develop and maintain databases of injury data, provide injury data and tables to stakeholders, and prepare and present reports to Office of Injury Prevention programs and to external injury prevention partners and funders including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The incumbent will also seek audiences for general injury and specific injury presentations to lay the groundwork for prevention efforts. This epidemiologist will use data to initiate and lead prevention efforts, and support and provide leadership to injury prevention initiatives including the New Mexico Injury Prevention Coalition. This position will also develop and maintain knowledge of current practices in the field of injury prevention in order to make recommendations supporting the use of effective injury prevention recommendations. Ideal candidate will possess excellent oral and written communication skills, have flexibility and the ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment, experience providing and presenting injury data, and be a team player.
