Reporting to the Emergency Operations Supervisor, the Emergency Response Operations Coordinator oversees the development and maintenance of all public health and medical response teams and task forces managed and coordinated by DOH, within the Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response. This work will be guided by the DOH mission to develop disaster response teams and capabilities and, in part, by requirements for emergency volunteer registration contained within Senate Bill 5990, the Uniform Emergency Volunteer Health Practitioners Act.
The Emergency Response Operations Coordinator oversees the development, maintenance, and deployment of these teams during a response. This position provides planning expertise, agency representation, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders regarding recruitment, operational readiness, response, and demobilization. Key partners include the Military Department, Department of Labor and Industries, and all divisions within the Department of Health. The Emergency Response Operations Coordinator serves as the agency lead for organizing and mobilizing health and medical mutual aid assets to other states and across Washington State during disasters.
This is a full-time permanent Health Services Consultant 4 (HSC 4) position within the Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response.
Option 1: Five (5) or more years of experience in a preparedness or emergency management program, EMS program, or an equivalent field.
Option 2: A Bachelor’s degree or higher with major study in public health, healthcare administration, emergency management, public administration, business administration or closely allied field; AND two (2) or more years of experience in a preparedness or emergency management program, EMS program, or an equivalent field.
Demonstrated experience in the following:
- Experience functioning within an activated emergency operation center or on an Incident Management Team during disasters.
- Completion of National Incident Management System and Incident Command System training to the ICS 400 level OR will complete within the first six (6) months of employment.
- Experience in emergency response plan development.
- Experience in emergency response exercises (as a player, planner, or exercise staff).
- Public speaking and facilitation skills.
