What will you be doing? – Duties include:
  • Provide analysis of populations served, with an emphasis on identifying racial/ethnic, geographic, and other disparities at a state and local level. 
  • Provide estimates of eligible population based on analysis of a variety of data sources. 
  • Identify potential biases and data omissions, and works with program partners to correct, mitigate, or clearly communicate errors and omissions in data.
  • Monitor data for quality, accuracy, timeliness and timely reporting.
  • Work with program partners to identify and implement evaluation metrics to monitor the effectiveness of screening availability at linking those in need to required services and in rectifying inequities in access to healthcare. 
  • Serve as consulting expert on national, state, and local cancer screening data to internal and external partners. 
  • Serve as software and database liaison between federal, state program, federal data contractor and local entities for the family planning program, including provision of technical assistance as appropriate.
  • Manage contract with federal data contractor.
  • Support data requests and grant applications as needed.
  • Assures all contractors have designated staff to manage data; trains contractor staff.
  • Report data issues to the DOH family planning program and develop a plans to correct for identified or potential problems
  • Modify data collection tools as needed to meet family planning outcome measure requirements.
  • Assure all contract management functions with the federal data contractor are completed.
  
Skills/Eligibility:

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Epidemiology, Public Health, or Health Science field which includes 12 graduate quarter hours or equivalent (500 level or above) in epidemiology and 12 graduate quarter hours or equivalent in biostatistics.
  • Two (2) or more years of professional level work experience in epidemiology/research and analysis.

 
Preferred/Desired Qualifications

  • Three (3) or more years of experience designing and executing epidemiological studies and using statistical programs to perform data analysis in a public health agency.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience advising public health programs how to use data and scientific information for planning and decision making.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in maternal and child health epidemiology.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing administrative data (e.g. vital records, Medicaid, hospitalization) and complex survey data (e.g. Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System, National Survey of Children’s Health).
