Pat Wahl has been Professor of Biostatistics since 1971, and Associate Dean of the School of Public Health and Community Medicine since 1985. She served as the acting chair of the Department of Pathobiology from September 1995 through August 1996. Dr. Wahl served as Acting Dean of the School of Public Health and Community Medicine since 1997 and effective February 19, 1999 was appointed as Dean for the the School of Public Health and Community Medicine.

Dr. Wahl currently participates in three collaborative research projects. She is the Principal Investigator of the coordinating center for the Sleep Heart Health Study (SHHS), an epidemiologic study of the association between sleep apnea and cardiovascular disease. She is also the Co-Director of the coordinating center for the Cardiovascular Health Study (CHS), a longitudinal study of cardiovascular disease in elderly men and women. Dr. Wahl is a co-investigator of the Japanese American Community Diabetes (JACD) study, a longitudinal investigation of Type II diabetes in a local Japanese American community.
