Dear Students, Staff, and Faculty of SPH:

I invite you all to take part in a confidential survey of students, faculty and staff regarding the climate in the School of Public Health. As interim dean, it’s clear we need to take the pulse of the School and see what we can do better. I hope you will take the time to complete this important survey.

How are we defining climate?  We are thinking of current attitudes, behaviors and standards held by faculty, staff, and students concerning the access for, inclusion of, and level of respect for individual and group needs, abilities and potential.  The results will provide important information that will enable us to improve the environment for working and learning.

The survey is being administered by ORS Impact, an independent consulting firm based in Seattle. Later today, you will be sent an email message from ORS Impact containing instructions and an anonymous link to the online survey. The survey may take up to 20 minutes to complete. You will not be asked for your name and your responses will be kept confidential.

Participation is voluntary, but a high participation rate is critical to interpreting the results. You do not have to answer any of the questions that you do not wish to answer. We’re offering four, $50 Amazon Gift Cards as an incentive to take part. You will find more details on how to enter the raffle in the survey.

Thank you in advance for supporting this effort to assess the SPH climate and to make our School a great place to work and learn.

Sincerely,

Joel Kaufman

Message from Joel Gutierrez, from ORS Impact

As you recently heard from Dean Joel Kaufman, we are administering a confidential survey of students, faculty, and staff regarding the climate in the School of Public Health. Your survey responses will help the School of Public Health improve the environment for working and learning.

There are three versions—a student survey, a staff survey, and a faculty survey.  If you have multiple roles, you will receive multiple survey links. In that event, we ask that you complete the version of the survey you feel applies to you most.

To protect your confidentiality, we will not be able to link your identity to your survey response. As a result, you will receive a few email reminders to complete the survey regardless if you have completed it or not. Thank you for understanding.

The survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Please complete by Friday, March 10. You may choose to enter a raffle for one of four, $50 Amazon Gift Cards. At the end of the survey there will be a link to provide your name and email address to enter the raffle. Your contact info will not be linked to your survey response.

Results summaries provided to the School of Public Health will include only aggregate results (i.e., results pertaining to groups) and only for subgroups of more than 5 individuals.

Please follow the link to complete the student STAFF survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SPHstaff

If you have any questions regarding the survey or how the data will be used please contact Senior Consultant, Dr. Tracy Hilliard at thilliard@orsimpact.com.

Best,

Joel Gutierrez
