The Abortion Diaries, a film screening on the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade

Date/Time: January 22, 2013, 12:00pm1:00pm
Location: Foege North Conference Room N130

January 22, 2013 marks the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court case that determined it was legal to receive an abortion in the United States. Nearly one in three American women will have an abortion in their lifetime; 42% of women who have abortions are low-income; and 87% of counties across the US lack an abortion provider.

To commemorate the anniversary of Roe v Wade and recognize that we still have a long way to go to ensure abortion access for all women, SPHERE, Med Students for Choice, and the Health Equity Circle are organizing a film screening of The Abortion Diaries. The Abortion Diaries gives voice to an important but silenced community: women who have had abortions. There will be a short discussion following the film and an opportunity for participants to write a thank-you letter to local abortion providers.

Snacks will be provided.
