Occupational Health and Safety Specialist (Research Scientist II) - California Dept of Public Health
The Occupational Lead Poisoning Prevention Program at the California Department of Health is hiring an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist (civil service classification Research Scientist II (Physical/Engineering Sciences or Chemical Sciences) to be based in Richmond, CA.
The Occupational Health and Safety Specialist will, among other activities:
- Work on multidisciplinary statewide research and intervention projects with industries where lead is used or disturbed to prevent and control exposure to workers
- Provide technical assistance to employers, workers, other government agencies, and other stakeholders regarding requirements and best practices for prevention of occupational lead poisoning
- Conduct scientific research studies and programs to promote the adoption of safer alternatives to lead in select industries
- Contribute to field investigations, scientific research studies, and intervention projects on other occupational health topics addressed within the Occupational Health Branch
