The Occupational Lead Poisoning Prevention Program at the California Department of Health is hiring an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist (civil service classification Research Scientist II (Physical/Engineering Sciences or Chemical Sciences) to be based in Richmond, CA.

The Occupational Health and Safety Specialist will, among other activities:

  • Work on multidisciplinary statewide research and intervention projects with industries where lead is used or disturbed to prevent and control exposure to workers
  • Provide technical assistance to employers, workers, other government agencies, and other stakeholders regarding requirements and best practices for prevention of occupational lead poisoning
  • Conduct scientific research studies and programs to promote the adoption of safer alternatives to lead in select industries
  • Contribute to field investigations, scientific research studies, and intervention projects on other occupational health topics addressed within the Occupational Health Branch
