Birth Defects Epidemiologist Supervisor - New Mexico Department of Health Epidemiology & Response Division
The employee in this position will conduct birth defects surveillance for the New Mexico Birth Defects Surveillance and Prevention Program, provide reports to the CDC as part of grant requirements, and is responsible for the oversight of the Zika Pregnancy Registry in New Mexico. These data (including microcephaly prevalence) will be provided on a routine basis through grant reporting to and monthly meetings with the CDC. These data are also utilized to help inform birth defect interventions and evaluation. The employee in this position will supervise New Mexico Birth Defects Surveillance and Prevention Program staff members. Incumbent will 1.Conduct birth defects surveillance for the purpose of identifying trends in birth defects prevalence and identifying opportunities for prevention 2.Provide birth defects data to the Environmental Public Health Tracking Program on an annual basis and ensure that the most recent year of birth defects data is available on NM Tracking website 3.Provide oversight of the New Mexico Birth Defects Surveillance and Prevention Program including the coordination of efforts to address current CDC grant requirements.
