The Mat-Su Health Foundation is seeking a Community Health Fellow.  This fellowship will provide an opportunity for a new graduate or an established public health professional to learn about and participate in evaluation and research in the philanthropy arena. As a Mat-Su Community Health Fellow you’ll work alongside public health professionals on projects that are at the intersection of public health and philanthropy. Projects include overseeing program evaluation of a high utilizer program, a youth prevention program modeled on the Youth in Iceland Model, and a Behavioral Health in Schools initiative. Additionally, the fellow will assist the Vice President of Programs in designing and overseeing a 2019 Community Health Needs Assessment for the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.

The Mat-Su Health Foundation, which is a 501-3C organization, is co-owner of the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center and receives 35% of the profits from this partnership to invest in the community to promote the health and wellness of Mat-Su residents. As a fellow, you will work in one of the most beautiful areas of the country – Alaska’s Matanuska-Susitna Borough.  Our community is composed of 104,000 people who live amid a magnificent landscape the size of the state of West Virginia with white cap mountains, raging rivers, and abundant wildlife.

We are in search of an individual with the ability to deliver a high level of support to the work being done at the Mat-Su Health Foundation. You’ll be working in a professional environment with the Vice President of Programs and will receive:

  • Specific projects suitable for a competent, highly motivated individual
  • Mentoring in community health research, data, and program planning
  • Day-to-day oversight and support
  • Clear learning objectives paired with an effective evaluation method
