This is an unpaid/volunteer practicum opportunity.

The purpose of this project is to gather qualitative data to improve MAP ECHO. MAP ECHO, or Moms’ Access Project Extension for Community Outcomes, is a case-based and virtual workforce development program to increase and improve the ability of community providers (including family physicians, OB-GYNs, nurse practitioners, midwives) to address mental health issues in their perinatal (planning, pregnancy/prenatal, postpartum up to one year) patients. This program is composed of once monthly interactive Zoom sessions with didactic presentations and case consultation.  

This project entails developing an interview guide with the program administrators, scheduling and conducting interviews with MAP ECHO participants, and analyzing the resulting qualitative data. The final deliverable for this project would be a report of findings. 

Timeline: Recruitment for interviews: ~ June 2020; Conducting interviews: ~ July / August 2020; Analysis / report write up: ~ Sept / October 2020

Skills/Eligibility:

Must have qualitative methods coursework by beginning of practicum (such as HSERV 517) or experience. Familiarity with topic area (mental health, perinatal/maternal-child health, healthcare) desired.

Location(s):

Project will primarily take place at University of Washington Medical Center. Interviews will likely be conducted over phone or video conference. Some elements of this project (analysis) may be completed remotely. Student may be required to occasionally attend team meetings and/or MAP ECHO sessions as well.
