Volunteer Opportunity
The Office of Facilities works to ensure that the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) has the tools and resources required to protect and improve the health of all people in Washington state.
 
Our Safety & Security Team supports building security, workplace safety, internal emergency preparedness & response, and internal hazard assessment.
 
This position is responsible for researching and drafting recommendations in order to create an operational guide for Responder Health and Safety. This guide will be used to enhance responder capabilities during emergencies. You will also help to identify items required for an emergency response such as personal protection equipment. In addition, you will assist in creating and updating safety and reference binders for use during a response.
 
This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity. We’re looking for someone who can work 10 – 20 hours per week. Limited telework is available if desired. Schedule and timing are negotiable.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Risk Management, Emergency Management, Safety, or another related program.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to convey data and information using a variety of approaches (reports, spreadsheets, email).
  • General computer skills and basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Able to work 10 to 20 hours per week between the hours of 7 am-5 pm Monday-Friday.  Hours are negotiable to fit your schedule.
  • Opportunity runs February 2020 – June 30, 2020, however, dates are flexible.
