The Center for Public Affairs (C4PA) works with leadership and staff to advance agency priorities. We strive to advance health equity and develop communications and health promotion products that meet the needs of the communities we serve. We combine our services and expertise with other subject matter experts to creatively and effectively solve problems and carry out the agency’s mission.
 
C4PA staff work in one of the following three sections.

  • Communications facilitate agency-wide efforts to consistently and effectively inform, engage, listen to, assess and motivate external and internal audiences. Our work ensures the Department of Health is viewed as a credible source of critical health information and an employer of choice.
  • Health Promotion serves as consultants to the rest of the agency using health promotion theory, best practice and effective communication strategies to improve health literacy and health behaviors of people in Washington.
  • Community Relations and Equity provides overall leadership, strategic guidance, and consultation on DOH’s efforts to:
    • Advance health equity and address the social determinants of health;
    • Foster strong academic partnerships; and
    • Develop and maintain positive relations and meaningful engagement with key partners and communities across the state.


This is an unpaid internship opportunity in the Center for Public Affairs (C4PA).

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in Public Health, Public Affairs, Communications or related undergraduate or graduate program in an accredited college or university.
  • Able to work 10 hours per week. We are open to adapting the work to fit into your course of study.
  • Skills and competencies in qualitative data collection and analysis including interviewing experience. 
  • Internship runs February 3, 2020 – May 29, 2020, however, dates are flexible.
