Summary

You will serve as an Environmental Protection Specialist in the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Northwest (NAVFAC NW) of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.

Pay for the GS 11: $70,120 TO $91,155
Pay for the GS 09: $57,955 TO $75,343

Responsibilities

  • You will evaluate an environmental protection program using metrics, fact finding, and investigative techniques
  • You will evaluate contractor environmental and safety programs for compliance with regulations
  • You will coordinate compliance efforts with regard to environmental laws (e.g., Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Toxic Substance Control Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act).
  • You will draft changes and revisions to an organization’s environmental compliance and protection manual to incorporate instructions for agency compliance with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Executive Order 12114.
  • You will develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for operational personnel to verify hazardous waste operations comply with environmental regulations.
  • You will research new developments in environmental laws and regulations to identify potential environmental planning issues.
  • You will negotiate with auditing and regulatory agencies on compliance issues
