We are looking for a Area Health and Safety Manager to be based in Redmond, WA. Reporting to the Director of Health & Safety, the ideal candidate will have ten to fifteen years of relevant safety experience with a strong MSHA & OSHA background in heavy manufacturing, building materials or construction. The position has an area of responsibility that will include locations in the states of Washington and Oregon. What you’ll get to do:

  • Implement and support all Safety and Health programs including the Lehigh Hanson Safety/Health Management System
  • Provides ongoing safety and health support and guidance to operations management and employees
  • Continuous interpretation and compliance planning for current and emerging safety regulatory requirements at all levels affecting the assigned facilities including Federal, State, and local
  • Monitor and proactively report facility Safety and Health performance
  • Approximately 50% local travel within assigned area
  • Approximately 5% travel outside assigned area
  • Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, completion of required training, and monitoring compliance
  • Proactively manage safety and health of employees to continuously improve the company’s safety and health performance
Skills/Eligibility:

Who we are looking for:

  • Post-Secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene or equivalent
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant safety experience
  • Experience managing OSHA & MSHA regulated facilities and return-to-work programs
  • Experience managing workers’ compensation (L&I), automotive and general liability claims
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Experience and competence in developing and implementing safety programs
  • Strong management, interpersonal, and influencing skills at all levels from senior operations to plant level employees
  • Strong claims management experience
  • Proven coaching and teaching abilities
  • Ability to form, facilitate, and maintain internal and cross functional teams
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
