The Population Health Science Scholars Program at NYU Grossman School of Medicine trains scholars to improve healthcare delivery for individuals and to advance population health science. Students graduate prepared for academic careers in health services research and leadership roles in healthcare delivery. The interdisciplinary program is based in the Departments of Population Health, Pediatrics, and Medicine.

The program has two tracks, predoctoral and postdoctoral. In the predoctoral track, students complete a PhD in one of the following programs at NYU Langone’s Sackler Institute of Graduate Biomedical Sciences: biostatistics, epidemiology, or systems and computational biomedicine. In the postdoctoral track, fellows complete NYU Grossman School of Medicine’s MS in Clinical Investigation (MSCI) degree.

It is supported by National Research Services Awards (T32 awards) from the Health Resources and Services Administration and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.

NYU School of Medicine’s Departments of Population Health, Medicine, and Pediatrics are seeking applicants for our two-year, interdisciplinary post-doctoral Research Fellowship starting July, 2021. In this multi-disciplinary program, fellows earn a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation with a Concentration in Healthcare Delivery Science, and conduct mentored research. The program aims to prepare a cadre of highly-trained research faculty for careers at the real-world interface of health services research and health care delivery systems. Ideal candidates are physicians who have completed a clinical residency program or graduates of a PhD/DNP program.

Fellows complete a rigorous curriculum in clinical and health services research methods, biostatistics, healthcare delivery science, population health theory, epidemiology, medical informatics, research ethics, writing for publication, and grant writing, while conducting mentored research to improve population health outcomes and reduce health inequity.
Stipend and tuition are provided along with an allowance for books, travel, and research expenses. We seek applicants with a commitment to our program’s aims and with aspirations for an academic, operational or administrative career.
