RESPONSIBILITIES:

Readers will assess freshman applications, using a combination of personal and academic factors.  Final admission decisions are made by Admissions administrators, based on Reader assessments.

DATES OF EMPLOYMENT: 

Appointment covers five pay periods:  December 16, 2020-February 28, 2021. 
Training will be held on the following dates:  December 16, 17, 18, 19 (Saturday), and 21.  Online (Zoom) attendance is mandatory on all five days. 

Work must be completed by February 16, although the position continues through February 28.  After deducting training hours, students will be required to work 152 hours in 8 weeks, approximately 19 hours per week.  Must read at a rate of 8-10 applications per hour, 130 files per week, for a total of approximately1,000 applications. 

HOURS:

183 hours over 5 pay periods.  Undergraduate admission applications will be reviewed on-line.  Readers will work off-site and are welcome to work anywhere with a reliable internet connection.  Students must attend one required, online norming/calibration meeting each Thursday during winter quarter.

REQUIREMENTS:

•  Registered UW Graduate Student (winter quarter 2021) in good standing and eligible to hold a Graduate Student Assistantship.

•  Ability to do the following:

-read and evaluate applications, considering both academic and personal factors; learn quickly and apply complicated assessment guidelines;
-apply assessment principles without personal bias;
-read rapidly (8-10 applications per hour) and accurately;
-work independently for hours at a time.

DESIRED:

•  Sensitivity to diversity/multicultural issues and educational disadvantage
•  Familiarity with U.S. high school systems.

TERMS:

•  Candidates are hired through graduate appointments; applicants must therefore be enrolled at the UW and be in good standing with ten credits or more of graduate coursework during winter quarter.
•  The appointment carries a stipend, tuition waiver, and health benefits.
