Description:

Use your leadership to provide communicable disease consultation and expertise to medical providers, staff, community partners and other organizations to promote public health programs, community engagement, policies, and initiatives. This is a Regular, Full-time (1.0 FTE) position.

This person will provide subject matter expertise on public health issues, engage with community partners and healthcare systems, and promote quality improvement initiatives for public health and its partners.

Some of what you’ll do:

  • Research and develop timely and essential public health guidance materials for consultation to medical providers and community stakeholders on emerging public health issues, health equity, communicable disease, and other pertinent population health topics.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies and resources to achieve public health objectives, including social marketing tools and content. Serve as a liaison subject matter expert in communicable disease, HIV/STD, immunization promotion, infection prevention, and evidence-based best practices.
  • Provide public health consulting services to community partners, medical providers, and department staff.
  • Implement and manage quality improvement work to ensure effective and efficient use of resources.
Skills/Eligibility:

What you bring to the table

 

  • Experience in communicable disease control, health equity, and stakeholder engagement.
  • The ability to create and implement public health social marketing plans; anticipate and react to outside influences that may affect project completion; monitor project progress and evaluate outcomes.
  • The skills to identify, analyze, and develop recommendations to resolve problems.
  • Experience with the healthcare system, medical providers, service providers, and other public health partners.
  • Experience using a variety of communication platforms, such as web media and newsletters, to effectively promote public health best practices and share information.
  • The ability to recognize and define problems; analyze relevant information; encourage innovative solutions and plan to solve problems.
  • Experience with quality tools and techniques for continuous improvement.
  • The ability to adapt public health education practices to the needs of diverse populations.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally to individuals and groups to present information.

 

Who should apply:

 

Master’s degree and four years of relevant experience in community health, public health, education, or other relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential functions of work.

Required Certifications and Licensure

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driver’s abstract prior to employment.
