Activity 2: Persons Experiencing Homelessness (PEH), Hospital Outreach Unit (HOU), Food, and Congregate Living
SUMMARY
Plans, designs, implements, evaluates, and manages health-related surveillance systems, original epidemiologic studies and field investigations; and provides consultation to departmental staff and external health partners on epidemiologic research methodology and design.
Multiple positions will be hired across the following teams for Activity #2:
· Persons Experiencing Homelessness (2 FTE)
· Hospital Outreach Unit (5 FTE)
· Food (1 FTE)
· Congregate Living:
o Workplace (2 FTE)
o School (1 FTE)
o Congregate Living (1 FTE)
· Candidates from outside of Los Angeles region are welcome to apply
· Remote/on-site depending on work need and hiring manager’s discretion
· Standard work hours (40 hours/week)
This full-time benefitted position is grant funded through July 2021.
Employment is provided by Heluna Health.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The duties of the Epidemiologist include, but are not limited to:
· Plans, conducts, and evaluates COVID-19 epidemiological studies and investigations of disease outbreaks; including the development of study design and methodology, analysis of case and control data, and preparation of reports on the study or investigation findings;
· Conducts investigations of environmental health threats, including collecting and analyzing health and environmental data; prepares interpretation of findings and disseminates recommended prevention and control measures for COVID-19;
· Supervises and directs the work of Epidemiologist Analysts and other support staff investigating environmental health threats, participating in community health improvement initiatives, responding to data requests, and various other epidemiology related studies, investigations, and research;
· Complies with DPH training regarding confidential information related to personal information; and
· Accepts responsibility for other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in epidemiology or its equivalent and three years of experience assisting in the design, conduct, and evaluation of epidemiologic studies and field investigations –OR- A Doctoral degree form an accredited college or university with specialization in epidemiology or its equivalent, infectious diseases or equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications
· Experience in designing, conducting, evaluating and interpreting epidemiological studies or investigations
· Knowledge in communicable disease surveillance and control, including interpretation and evaluation of laboratory test results and statistical data
Licenses/Certificates/Clearances
· A valid California driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions
· Successful Clearance of LA County Live Scan Process
· Medical clearance may be required based on team assignment
