 Position Summary: 

Resource Specialist / Weekend Services Coordinator (RS/WSC) assists the Social Services Team, and helps Pike Market Senior Center members connect with services and resources to meet their needs. They will work with case manager on member needs. On the weekends, the RS/WSC is the go-to person for members of the Pike Market Senior. They are easily accessible contact for questions or issues, someone whose job is to be visible, accessible, and vigilant, can resolve disputes, and whose presence promotes a welcoming, civil atmosphere at the Senior Center.

Essential Job Duties

Resources:

  • Help members connect with resources and services to meet their needs
  • Assist members with phone calls, making appointments, and associated paperwork
  • Gather intake information from members requesting to meet with a PMSC case managers
  • Become a specialist on resources and services available to seniors in Seattle
  • Oversee resource cupboard including maintaining inventory, ordering and distributing commodities
  • Maintain accurate service records
  • Assist PMSC Case Managers as needed

Additional Weekend Duties:

  • Welcome and check in members
  • Process new memberships and conduct orientation for new members
  • Make announcements, scan members cards during meals
  • Help clients understand behavioral guidelines and be successful members of the Senior Center community
  • Enforce agency policies respectfully and calmly, but firmly
    • Maintain professional boundaries
    • Treat all members respectfully and fairly
    • Call 911 and/or Market Security if needed

    • Prolonged periods standing and walking
    • Occasional work on a computer
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

     

Skills/Eligibility:

Required skills / abilities 

  • Social services background including knowledge of harm reduction and a commitment to values of equity and inclusion
  • Has a friendly, helpful, positive personality; is observant and a good listener
  • Has facility for taking charge of situations and ability to stay even tempered, consistent, and fair-minded under pressure
  • Is skilled at conflict resolution and problem solving; by example, promotes a positive, friendly, and controlled atmosphere
  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully with a diverse clientele including seniors who are homeless, have addictions, disabilities and/or mental illness.
  • Ability to engage with diverse populations in a culturally responsive manner
  • Is knowledgeable or has the desire to become knowledgeable about resources available to low income seniors
  • Has experience maintaining boundaries, respecting confidentiality, and providing effective self-care
  • Speaks and writes in English and Spanish clearly and fluently
  • Proficiency in MS Word, email and internet research

Education

Prefer a Bachelors in Social Work or a related field

Compensation

$18 - $20 per hour with paid time off, medical and dental insurance available.

Schedule
Saturday through Wednesday from 8:30am to 4pm.
