The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Department of Pharmacy Systems, Outcomes and Policy invites nominations and applications for two full-time, nine-month tenure track positions, at the rank of assistant professor, with training and expertise in areas aligned with the Department’s strategic plan.

The Department of Pharmacy Systems, Outcomes and Policy is one of the largest of its kind in the country. Faculty in the Department have strong research programs and work collaboratively with experts in the UIC Colleges of Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, Allied Health Sciences, and the School of Public Health, other academic institutions in Chicago, area pharmaceutical companies and health provider organizations, government agencies and others. Many departmental faculty are also associated with the Center for Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomic Research, a highly successful research unit in the College.

A PhD (or equivalent) or PharmD with additional postdoctoral research education or training is required. Candidates should have research training and/or experience in at least one of the following areas: health economics, pharmacoeconomics, pharmacoepidemiology, health outcomes research, population health, quality and patient safety, pharmacy systems and outcomes, public health, health disparities, and/or related fields. It is strongly desirable, but is not required, that the candidate possess a PharmD or other professional degree.  Preference will be given to applicants with strong statistical and methodological skills who possess research and teaching interest consistent with that of the department.

The selected candidates will be expected to establish and maintain a strong extramurally funded research program in an appropriate field aligned with the areas of emphasis outlined in the department’s strategic plan.  These areas include pharmacoeconomics and outcomes research, pharmacy systems and policy, pharmacoepidemiology and drug safety, and pharmaceutical education. The selected candidates also will be required to teach professional (PharmD) and graduate courses and mentor/advise PharmD and graduate students in the PSOP department. Additionally, faculty members are expected to support the PharmD and PSOP department’s graduate programs, including developing, teaching and coordinating courses in both programs. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to work in the U.S. at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin.
