Description:

The Washington State Department of Health Office of Communicable Disease Epidemiology Outbreak Response Program is looking to hire an epidemiologist or biostatistician to join their team for an exciting opportunity to meet this moment in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

You will lead a team of epidemiologists to:

  • Design and implement COVID-19 non-healthcare setting outbreak reporting using multiple datasets of surveillance system, case investigation and contact tracing, and/or partner agency data
  • Analyze outbreak data, provide summary statistics, and create reports to visualize trends of COVID-19 outbreaks in non-healthcare settings across Washington State
  • Provide evidence-based recommendations to leadership at the Washington State Department of Health and Governor’s Office to directly inform new COVID-19 policies

We are seeking someone with:

  • A Doctoral or Master’s degree in biostatistics or epidemiology and minimum of two years of experience in research and analysis
  • Experience supervising others or managing projects
  • An intermediate or advanced level of knowledge in R
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and handle multiple priorities
  • Humility and interest in working with a team to create a new program within the Department of Health

The opening is for an Epidemiologist 3 (Non-Medical) position, which is the job classification for both biostatisticians and epidemiologists per the State of Washington Classified Job Specification. You will be based remotely, with occasional meetings at the Washington State Department of Health office in Shoreline, WA. The pay range is $7,025.55 – $9,221.10 monthly.
