Hours are unknown as it is dependent on our case count. Position is not eligible for benefits including participation in Department of Retirement Systems Pension plan since hours are unknown. 

This position is funded through February 28, 2021 as part of the District’s COVID response, position may be extended.

Under the direction of the Disease Intervention Specialist Supervisor, or designee, incumbent is a disease intervention specialist who has specific focus in working with employers, businesses and facilities within the county to prevent the spread of COVID-19 within a worksite setting.

The Snohomish Health District seeks a candidate for a COVID Disease Intervention Specialist. This position is a part of multidisciplinary team that will assist public health with their work in identifying, investigating, monitoring, and reporting associated infections within a worksite. This position collaborates with teams and individuals to conduct site visits to employers in Snohomish County to provide education and guidance on preventing the spread of COVID within their facility.

Work is performed under limited supervision requiring independent judgment, discretion and initiative. The supervisor sets the overall objectives and resources available.  The incumbent and supervisor work together to develop the deadlines and work to be completed.  The incumbent is responsible for the work, plans and carries out the assignment, resolves most conflicts that arise, coordinates work with others, and interprets policies on own initiative in terms of established objectives.   The incumbent keeps the supervisor informed of progress, potentially controversial matters, or far reaching implications.  Work is reviewed in terms of feasibility, timeliness and efficiency, partner indexes and limited negative outcomes.

Examples of Work Performed

Examples of Work Performed: 

  • Develop daily report of site visits conducted
  • Conduct site visits to employers in Snohomish County
  • Communicate with contacts in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Provide employers with verbal and written education on COVID prevention and mitigation efforts
  • Provide employers with information on personal protective equipment that may be required
  • Provide employers with approved information about quarantine procedures, exclusion requirements, and other recommendations based on type of worksite.
  • Provide a written summary of recommendations to employer based on results of site visit
  • Coordinate efforts among employment team
  • Maintain daily contact with supervisor. 

 

Skills/Eligibility:

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field such as biology, microbiology, chemistry, counseling, psychology, behavioral science, public health, social science, health education or nursing, or a related field.  
Experience: At least 6 months of experience in COVID case investigation or related COVID work or experience in conducting compliance/regulatory site visits.
Or: In place of the above experience requirement, the incumbent may possess any combination of relevant education and experience which would demonstrate the individual’s knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above.

Licenses, Certifications and Other:

  • Must be available to work occasional weekends and evenings. 
  • Registered Nurses must have a valid Washington State registered nurse license. 
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire and a driving record that meets the requirements of Snohomish Health District’s insurance carrier
  • Background check pursuant to RCW 43.43.830.
