Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Health Education Specialist and Telephone Liaison (1.0 FTE, DAY SHIFT) to work in Swedish Cancer Institute Integrated Care for Swedish First Hill located in Seattle, WA.

The Health Education Specialist and Telephone Liaison promotes the services provided by the Swedish Cancer Institute (SCI) to our patients, families, caregivers, and the cancer community we serve through health education outreach, development and implementation of health education programs, and research, review, creation of patient health education materials and through service excellence.

In this position you will:

  • Assesses, plans, designs, implements, and evaluates health education programs

  • Conducts needs assessments and surveys to determine the health education needs of SCI patients, families, caregivers and the cancer community

  • Researches, reviews, evaluates, and develops educational resources for SCI patients, families, caregivers and clinicians

  • Develops and maintains guidelines for SCI patient education materials, including standardization, updates and revisions, literacy levels, and cultural appropriateness

  • Provides support to the Cancer Education Center through reviewing educational materials and providing research for patrons of the center

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education, or an equivalent field in Health Care, Community Education or Human Services

  • Valid Washington state driver’s license is required. In the case of a newly relocated individual, a Washington state driver’s license must be acquired under the circumstances and within the required timeframe set by the state of Washington

  • Must have CHES certification or be actively seeking CHES certification and must obtain within one year of hire

  • Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) are those who have met the standards of competence established by the National Commission for Health Education

  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating health education programs

  • Teaching experience
