School of Dentistry currently has an outstanding opportunity for a Part Time Temporary Research Scientist 2.

The Timothy A. DeRouen Center for Global Oral Health was established in 2017 within the University of Washington’s School of Dentistry. Our mission is to improve quality of life by promoting collaboration and inclusivity in oral and craniofacial research that impacts global health. The DeRouen Center carries out its mission through a range of projects within different areas of the world and has developed research collaborations in Peru, Kenya, Thailand, and Seattle.

• Limited term appointment will have primary responsibility for conducting enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), general lab maintenance, and may assist in training a predoctoral dental student if necessary. This limited term appointment will be critical in analysis of the salivary antimicrobial peptide levels in children. This position would be for 20 hours per month for three months maximum. This position will work in the School of Dentistry Oral Health Medicine laboratory.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform and optimize efficiency for ELISA
• Responsible for ordering for the lab and general lab maintenance
• Other duties, as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in molecular biology, immunology, microbiology, or related discipline.
• 2-4 years’ relevant experience.
• Ability to work independently.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as license/certification/registration.

• Problem solving skills.
• Experience in ELISA strongly desired.
• Outstanding organizational skills.
