Description:

The National Institutes of Health offer a number of different funding and research opportunities for students at all levels, but there are two geared toward undergrads/recent graduates for which applications are now available:

  1. The NIH Undergraduate Scholarship program is open now for undergrads who have high levels of financial need and are committed to careers in biomedical, behavioral, and social science health-related research. This scholarship provides up to $20,000/year for up to 4 years, along with a 10-week summer lab experience at an NIH research lab, and a year of employment at the NIH after graduation! Deadline is March 17.
  2. Graduating seniors and recent grads interested in biomedical research should consider the NIH Post-Bac Intramural Research Training Award, which provides recent college graduates planning to apply to graduate or professional (medical/dental/pharmacy/nursing/veterinary, etc.) school an opportunity to spend one or two years performing full-time research at the NIH. This application process is rolling, and applicants are encouraged to apply three to six months before they wish to begin their training at the NIH.
