DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Washington State Department of Health is currently recruiting 1 position to join the
Yakima Health District COVID-19 Response Team. This position will directly assist the Yakima Health District in support for the public health response to COVID-19. Duties will support work in the following key areas:
Vaccine response support
•Respond to community questions surrounding the COVID-19 vaccine
•Being knowledgeable on most up-to-date vaccine information
•Assist in coordination of mass vaccine sites
Long-term care facilities
•Onsite visits with LTC facilities for infection control guidance
•Assess PPE needs and ensure adequate supply
•Monitor LTC outbreaks
•Maintain list of positive and negative cases within LTC facilities
•Coordinate weekly testing of all previously negative staff and residents
H2A Housing
•Onsite visits with infection control guidance to all the H2A housing
•Monitor for cluster and outbreaks using data from VMM and WDRS
•Coordinate testing for cluster and/outbreaks
Warehouses and other businesses
•Onsite visits with infection control guidance to warehouses and other businessesexperiencing cases higher than the community prevalence rate.
•Coordinate testing of clusters and outbreaks identified in businesses
•Manage data from WDRS to identify high numbers of cases within certain employers
•Respond to businesses that call for recommendations when they have positive staffor for prevention measures
Other activities
•Assist with self-collected nasal swabs for testing in identified clusters/outbreaks
• Assist with data entry clean up in WDRS for better data
• Assist with outreach to the communities for education
• Contact patients with positive test results to identify employer for early detection of clusters/outbreaks and notify negative results to those that are negative
• Maintain quick sheet for update guidance for healthcare, long-term care, and assisted living facilities as these are changing frequently
• Assist in other outbreaks as necessary
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Worksite: Yakima, WA
• Hours: 40 hours/week. Expect increased workload during COVID-19 outbreak scenarios.

Skills/Eligibility:

QUALIFICATIONS
• A Bachelor’s degree or higher AND/OR demonstrable experience providing and/or administering public health programs and/or services, at the state or local level
• Keen and demonstrable interest in communicable diseases
• Excellent ability to communicate in clear, professional, and friendly manner over the phone, including adeptness in speaking with people of diverse backgrounds
o Desired: experience in interviewing, patient interaction, or other customer service
o Fluency in Spanish or other languages desirable but not required
• Willingness to adjust to sometimes fast-paced work environment, changing priorities, and evolving work expectations
NOTE: This is a temporary, non-permanent Health Services Consultant 3 position. This position does provide health insurance.
