We have an exciting job opportunity for an Environmental Project Manager/Outreach Specialist. This position is perfect for an experienced recycling/solid waste consultant who thrives on fieldwork, but who would also enjoy expanding the position into areas that match your own environmental expertise. An ideal candidate would be a seasoned professional with a solid reputation in the field of waste management and/or resource conservation.
Alternatively, we are open to an energetic go-getter with recycling/environmental knowledge primed to expand your expertise and apply it in the field as we support you to excel in this position.

This is currently a part time (20-30 hour per week) position with the potential for full-time employment. You will be part of a small, committed, and enthusiastic team seeking interesting projects that positively impact the environment through behavior change, policy development and legislation. We strive to integrate environmental justice in our work no matter the size of the project.

As the Environmental Project Manager/Outreach Specialist you will educate and assist business owners, employees, community members, and other key stakeholders to implement recycling programs, water resource and protection programs, and food waste/organics collection in multiple cities. You will provide independent technical assistance including trouble-shooting, logistics management, cost analysis, data tracking, research, policy development, and written reports. You will be someone who identifies obstacles, solves problems, and encourages and motivates others to change behaviors.

“Environmental Project Manager/Outreach Specialist” Responsibilities:
! Perform independent fieldwork providing outreach, assistance and training to commercial businesses; perform waste or recycling audits; create implementation plans and help businesses achieve milestones.
! Work directly with clients, other consulting firms, and subject matter experts.
! Conduct quantitative analysis, including development and use of spreadsheets and databases.
! Develop and maintain clear tracking and reporting documentation, including reports, spreadsheets, shared on-line documents, graphic presentations, and daily timesheets.
! Assist with the writing, production, and overall execution of proposals and reports.
! Provide feedback and make recommendations for program improvement and new opportunities.
! Engage in business development by identifying and bringing to fruition new business opportunities with existing and potential clients in the interest of making this a full-time position.
! Lead and participate in research, co-author articles, attend conferences and present papers with panache.

! Travel, including fieldwork, meetings, and conferences; occasional work outside normal hours.

Skills/Eligibility:

Qualified candidates must possess the following:

planning, business, or related field (or equivalent experience/education).
! Relevant project experience in the environmental field, preferably including recycling and solid waste.
! Ability to work effectively with businesses, government staff, recyclers, composters, waste haulers, and the public, including underserved communities.

! Clear and concise writing skills, strong research, organizational and critical thinking skills.
! Ability to work independently, establish and track work plans and budgets for multiple projects, address emerging client demands, and meet deadlines.
! Familiarity with environmental justice concepts and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, including a willingness to learn and grow.
! Ability to thrive while working from a home office when not doing outreach in the field.
! Demonstrated knowledge and experience with computer programs, including MS Word, MS Excel, Google Drive and presentation software used to create professional and informative presentations and reports.
