Duties and Responsibilities:

The mission of the Center for Health and the Global Environment (CHanGE) is to foster collaborative and interdisciplinary research, support climate change research, and build a community of climate change and health researchers and students at the UW. CHanGE is hiring a student office assistant to support administrative staff by performing the following functions:

  • Provide general office assistance to program manager and faculty
  • Assist with event and meeting planning, including helping with speaker travel arrangements, scheduling, arranging catering, advertising, etc.
  • Assist program manager with scheduling faculty appointments
  • Assist faculty with inserting references in publications
  • Assist faculty with submitting publications to journals
  • Edit program website and assist with newsletters and blog posts
  • Maintain social media sites with regular posts and content
  • Help with annual progress report by collecting, compiling, formatting, and printing various grant and publication outcomes
  • Assisting with award competitions, including creating materials for and publicizing, communication with applicants and reviewers, receiving and tracking applications, organizing the application review meetings and materials, collating reviewer scores, and sending notifications and reviews to applicants
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned
Skills/Eligibility:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Available to work 15-19 hours per week
    • Typical office hours are Monday-Friday between 9am and 5pm
    • CHanGE is currently working remotely. Our offices will be located in the Hans Rosling Population Health Building. A desk is available for this position or there are multiple flexible workstations nearby.
    • Our office has not decided about a return-to-work schedule yet but will likely be hybrid between in-person and remote.
  • Full-time student (enrolled minimum 6 credits)
  • Task-driven and detail-oriented
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to meet deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Ability to multi-task with excellent organizational skills
  • Required: experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Google programs, reference software (such as EndNote or Mendeley), Zoom
  • Preferred: Experience with Drupal, Canvas, Microsoft Teams
