Position Available
The Food Research & Action Center (FRAC) is seeking an intern to support our communications efforts. The position reports to the Manager, Communications. Currently, FRAC is operating remotely, and this position will be remote as well.

Organizational Background
FRAC works to improve the nutrition, health, and well-being of people struggling against poverty-related hunger in the United States through advocacy, partnerships, and by advancing bold and equitable policy solutions. In partnership with hundreds of national, state, and local nonprofit organizations, public agencies, corporations, and labor organizations, FRAC strives to build a nation in which all people have the nutritious food they need to lead healthy and productive lives.

Duties include:
• Develop and maintain targeted press lists, and assist in conducting media outreach for FRAC reports and events.
• Track daily media coverage and assist with compilation of weekly media coverage report and monthly media metrics report.
• Update and maintain FRAC’s media database.

• Assist communications director and communications manager with ongoing media training sessions to prepare company spokespeople for interview opportunities.
• Assist with writing news releases, letters-to-the-editor, social media and web content.
• Identify content that can be shared on FRAC’s social media channels.
• Assist with brainstorming content for FRAC’s blog, FRAC Chat.

• Organize photo library for 2021 reports, newsletters, website, and other communications channels as needed.

• Attend weekly team meetings and provide ideas and input.
• Other projects as assigned.

Benefits
This internship can either be a paid position, at the rate of $15/hour, or done to meet course/program requirements for course credit.

Start Date
The start and end dates of the internship are flexible; however, the ideal candidate will
be available for a 10-week internship. The internship can range from 5-40 hours per
week depending on the intern’s availability.

Compensation: $15/hour

Skills/Eligibility:

• Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism or related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Excellent writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of Cision and WordPress a plus.
• Experience with social media and creating video content a plus.
• Commitment to social justice.
