Husky Leadership Initiative overview
The Husky Leadership Initiative (HLI), housed in the Community Engagement and Leadership
Education (CELE) Center, aims to facilitate, deepen and expand student leadership education
opportunities in and outside the classroom. Our vision is to cultivate the knowledge, skills and
attitudes students need to be effective change agents and contributing members in their
communities. HLI aims to catalyze and facilitate leadership education opportunities that create
opportunities for students to explore critical leadership concepts and reflect upon their
leadership learning and practice.

Position overview
The Husky Leadership Initiative (HLI) is seeking a current graduate student intern to support the
implementation of two signature HLI programs: the Husky Leadership Certificate (HLC) and
Leadership Firesides. The Husky Leadership Certificate program is a capstone experience for
juniors and seniors combining reflection, mentorship and creation of a leadership e-portfolio.
The Leadership Firesides is a course that engages students in meaningful dialogue with a diverse
range of civic, corporate and campus leaders in an informal setting. For more information about

Duration: 14 hours per week during the academic quarter (Autumn, Winter, and Spring);
schedule during breaks is negotiable. Position begins mid-September 2021 (exact start date
negotiable) and ends on Friday, June 10, 2022.

Pay rate: $19/hour
Reports to: Francesca Lo, Executive Director, Community Engagement and Leadership Education
(CELE) Center, Undergraduate Academic Affairs

Skills/Eligibility:

Interest in college student leadership education and strong commitment to supporting
students’ socially responsible leadership learning and development.
● Commitment to using an equity lens in leadership education programming.
● Experience with program development and management.
● Experience with online course instruction, especially via Canvas.
● Experience with providing constructive written feedback on student assignments.
● Working knowledge and experience with e-portfolios as a learning and assessment tool.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills.
