Researchers at VA Puget Sound Health Care System, Seattle Division are seeking a part-time research assistant for the project “Needs, preferences, and perceived barriers and facilitators for gender-affirming surgeries for transgender and other gender diverse Veterans: moving towards a more inclusive VHA.”  

The research assistant will assist with conducting literature reviews and creating content materials for this mixed-methods study of transgender and gender diverse Veterans.

Details: $30-$40/hour (no fringe benefits included), depending on experience, up to 20 hours per week, starting in late July/early August 2021 until the end of September 2021 (~2 months), with the possibility to extend after that. The work can be conducted off site, with the expectation to meet on a weekly basis (via zoom) with the PIs.

The research assistant will be responsible for identifying relevant studies and summarizing them in writing, under the direction of the Principal Investigators (PIs), Drs. Keren Lehavot and Alyson Littman. The goals of the literature review are to summarize relevant studies on transgender individuals related to gender affirming care and to identify measures/instruments that we may want to use for the proposed study. Additional duties include preparing draft materials (survey, interview script, recruitment materials) and assisting with IRB preparation.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be a graduate student in Epidemiology or Health Services, with prior research experience in LGBTQ+ health. Strong organizational and writing skills and ability to work independently desired.
