Position Summary: Overall management of a comprehensive environmental health services program to fifty communities to address the environmental determinants of human health and disease.  Position is responsible for designing and operating systematic services and processes that are aligned with the YKHC mission and vision, and routinely evaluated for quality improvement and operational efficiency.

Skills/Eligibility:

Position Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, environmental health or other health related field required.  Masters degree preferred.
  • Minimum Experience: A minimum of one-year experience as a supervisor (technical or non-technical employees) is required.  Minimum of five (5) years of environmental health or civil engineering.
  • License, Certification, Registration: Professional Engineer, Engineer-In-Training or Registered Environmental Health Specialist certification is required. 
  • Equipment/Tools: Computer literate
  • Specialized Knowledge and Skills: A working knowledge of sanitation and other pollution control facilities; e.g., water wells, water storage tanks, water treatment and distribution systems, pumping equipment, sewage collection and treatment systems, and solid waste disposal operations.  Ability to communicate complex ideas and principles in an easily understandable manner.  Ability to effectively utilize computer and data management systems.  Ability to speak and present information in front of large audiences, frequently requiring the use of interpreters.  Cross cultural communication skills essential.  Bi-lingual (Yup’ik/English) preferred.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for the supervision of three environmental health specialists and the water lab technician.
