Description:

The Alliance for Fair Food (AFF) seeks an experienced funds and development coordinator in order to advance the Coalition of Immokalee Workers’ (CIW) Campaign for Fair Food. Ideal candidates are highly responsible, work well in teams as part of a fast-paced environment, and possess excellent written and verbal skills.

The AFF works in direct partnership with the CIW, an internationally recognized farmworker-led organization, to transform longstanding human rights abuses in the agriculture industry through achieving agreements with major food retailers to
implement the CIW’s uniquely successful Fair Food Program. Students and youth, communities of faith, food justice and women’s rights advocates, grassroots organizations, and consumers of conscience make up the vibrant multi-cultural and multi-generational AFF network, organizing under one banner for farmworker justice.

Location: Preferably Immokalee, FL, but could be remote; with very frequent travel

Responsibilities
Alliance for Fair Food staff members work together as a collective. As such, we welcome applicants with a diversity of skills – from organizing with different constituencies, to bookkeeping and fundraising, to web and design skills – and will seek to integrate a new staff member into the team in such a way that suits both the needs of the Campaign for Fair Food and the skills and interests of the incoming staffer.

Budgeting and Operations
✦ Alongside bookkeeper, prepare all budgets, cash flow forecasts, funding projections and financial reports for institutional donors
✦ Provide AFF staff with regular updates on status of organizational fundraising efforts
✦ Maintain donor database
Funds Development
✦ Direct and coordinate foundational, congregational, and grassroots fundraising strategies and efforts to implement yearly fundraising goals
✦ Manage an existing portfolio of foundational contacts and oversee the research, identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individual and institutional donors
✦ Draft and submit LOIs, grant proposals and reports by their respective deadlines
✦ Coordinate donor visits with the AFF and CIW staff
✦ Work alongside AFF staff and additional organizational partners to coordinate and augment financial support through the Fair Food Sustainer Program
✦ Work alongside organizational partners to manage major gifts program
✦ Manage team of staff and volunteers to execute successful semi-annual fundraising drives
✦ Work with Communications team on fundraising-specific messaging, digital and print collateral and multi-media
✦ Alongside AFF staff, coordinate with AFF Comité (AFF’s legal Board of Directors) to approve organizational budgets and review Statement of Activity reports every quarter
Campaign for Fair Food
✦ Together with CIW and AFF staff, formulate overall Campaign for Fair Food strategy
✦ When needed, plan logistical elements and coordination of events and direct actions Direct Support for the CIW & Farmworker Community
✦ Assistance with interpretation, rides, wage-theft cases, childcare for community meetings, technology and more

Skills/Eligibility:

✦ Deep commitment to social and economic justice, and building movements for collective liberation
✦ One or more years of administrative, development or fundraising experience with a community-based organization
✦ Proficiency in Google Sheets, Dropbox and donor database software a plus
✦ Strong attention to organization, detail, and accuracy
✦ Strong written and verbal communication skills
✦ Excellent time management and planning skills, including ability to meet tight deadlines and handle competing priorities
✦ Proficiency in English; proficiency in Spanish a plus
✦ Ability to travel occasionally and work long hours at times
✦ Experience living or working in low-income, immigrant, or multi-cultural communities preferred
