The Daniel J. Evans School of Public Policy & Governance is a preeminent school of public policy and
management, serving over 500 students in three graduate degree programs: Master of Public Administration,
Executive Master of Public Administration, and Ph.D. in Public Policy & Management. The school has earned a
distinguished reputation for producing insightful policy analyses and fostering constructive community debate
about major policy issues. The Evans School prepares leaders for professions in the public and private sectors
and nonprofit organizations. The Student Affairs team at the Evans School strives to provide students with the
support they need to be successful throughout their time at the Evans School and beyond graduation. The
Student Affairs team encompasses admissions, academic advising, career development, student organization
advising, equity and inclusion work, and addressing other student needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the Student Affairs Welcome Desk by responding to general inquiries, assisting visitors to the school,
and providing excellent customer service in navigating Evans School services and programs by email or inperson
communication * Assist staff with assigned projects, including special events hosted by Student Affairs
* Support the Student Consulting Lab by formatting proposals, drafting client and student emails based on
templates, maintaining capstone database, and editing and evaluating surveys * Maintain Student Affairs online
content housed on the MPA Student Portal by maintaining and updating information, editing pages and
developing new content * Aid the team with updating student degree information and conducting degree audits
for MPA and certificate students on MyGrad (a Graduate School tool that manages student information)

Skills/Eligibility:

Position is open to both graduate and undergraduate students with work-study eligibility. * Must be available to
work 10-15 hours per week for the duration of the 2021-2022 academic year, October 1st to June 10th * Strong
technical and computer skills (ex: Microsoft Office/SharePoint, Excel etc.) * Excellent written and verbal
communication skills * Organized, conscientious, punctual, willing to pitch in where needed *Competency in
working with diverse populations * Must be able to work independently and on a team *Preferred Qualifications
* Previous customer service and/or office management experience *Experience with online administrative,
database, and/or survey systems * Familiarity with graduate students and programs, or a desire to pursue a
graduate degree in the future * Knowledge of or interest in a career in public service or higher education/student
services
